Communication boards are invaluable tools for adults who may struggle to express their needs verbally, whether due to medical conditions, disabilities, or other circumstances. Designed for use in hospitals, care homes, and everyday life, these boards provide a visual and tactile means of conveying basic wants, emotions, and requirements. With clear symbols, pictures, or words, users can simply point or gesture to indicate their needs, facilitating better understanding and care. Whether for temporary or long-term use, communication boards offer a lifeline for adults facing communication challenges, empowering them to actively participate in their care and daily interactions.
My two grandsons, aged eight and four, are both autistic the youngest is non verbal and his brother becomes functionally mute when he gets really dysregulated or upset. Our biggest concern with the younger one is that he is unable to tell us how he feels when he isn't well or if he hurts anywhere. The boys do have various charts and cards that they can use to communicate most needs with. However I struggled to find any that also included body parts, pain levels or pain descriptors which is what makes this such an invaluable aid for our daughter, us and anybody else who the boys are with as it has all three of them, along with many other easily recognised symbols to cover pretty much every situation.I intend to order another set to be kept at my house, as the one's I ordered previously stay in my grandsons backpack which goes with him everywhere. Highly recommended.
