This phone mount is a tank, which is great for stability and durability but also means it's extra heavy for carrying out in the field. Not a huge deal, better than it being plastic and breaking on you at an important moment.Great mounting options and solid clamping, but make sure you are aware that the tripod head you attach to needs tilt/pan adjustment since there is no adjustment on this mount.Overall it's great, only minor gripe is that it takes a while to fully open the mount from closed with the thumbscrew, rather than a ratcheting mechanism with a release like on most plastic mounts. I guess the thumbscrew might be more robust over time, however.
Solid construction, professional designDurable metal design. Unlike the cheap stretch mounts, this has a top screw that requires several turns to fully extend to fit your smart. I like this as the screw gives you much better control to tighten its grip. It has quality rubber pads to protect your phone. The clamp opens fairly wide so it should handle large-sized phones. It'll fit an Arca mount on the bottom which will give you a horizontal aspect ratio. The top and bottom have cold shoe mounts. To mount for vertical use the mounting holes on the back with one of the 1/4 inch mounting holes. When doing this there are cold shoe mounts on the left and right side. This is a high-quality metal phone mount that is well worth it over the typical plastic stretch clamp mounts.
This Ulanzi product doesn't disappoint. The overall quality and build is great. Instead of the typical spring loaded camp, this uses the screw based adjustment which makes is much more secure.I can mount a large phone in a case without any problem. In addition to Arca swiss compatible, there is also tripod 1/4" mounting holes on the bottom as well as on the back make this very flexible in terms of mounting on a tripod. The only two things that can be improved are:1. To open wide to clampa large phone requires many turns on the knob which is a slight inconvenience if you want to quickly use the mount. (When you store it, you want to close it to as small as possible.)2. Arca swiss "rails" are only on 2 sides not all 4 sides. That means when you mount it at night, some times you might misalign to the 2 sides without the rail and thus cannot securely mount it. If would be good if the base is a square shape with all 4 sides having the arca swiss "rails"to make it fool proof when mounting in the dark.Overall, it is still one of the best tripod phone mount.
